• A tradition of excellence was established in 1992 when Cabarrus Emergency Medicine Associates (CEMA) was founded by Dr. Rolland Phillips. A partnership was formed between CEMA and Cabarrus Memorial Hospital in Concord, North Carolina. From the beginning, CEMA made a commitment to provide unsurpassed medical care in a service-oriented manner and that commitment has remained unchanged even as Cabarrus Memorial Hospital evolved from a small, county-owned hospital into a regional medical center named Carolinas Medical Center (CMC)-NorthEast.CEMA is now comprised of 27 emergency medicine residency trained physicians who are either board certified or board eligible in emergency medicine. In addition, many physicians in the group have successfully earned the distinction of Fellows in the American College of Emergency Physicians (FACEP). Despite many opportunities over the years, CEMA has chosen to provide medical care exclusively at the CMC-NorthEast Emergency Care Center (ECC). The group is proud of its long-term relationship with a single hospital and has no plans to provide emergency care elsewhere.Since the beginning, CEMA has demonstrated clinical expertise in the management of emergent and urgent medical conditions in an efficient and compassionate manner and that will never change.
