Description

Vitaeris is a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of new treatment options for chronic inflammatory diseases mediated by Interleukin-6 (IL-6). Founded in April 2016, Vitaeris is exploring innovative applications for Clazakizumab, a potent humanized best-in-class monoclonal antibody targeting IL-6. CLAZAKIZUMAB & INTERLEUKIN-6 Clazakizumab is a humanized, monoclonal antibody that binds to and inhibits Interleukin-6 (IL-6). IL-6 is an important driver of the inflammatory response and is implicated in the transition from acute to chronic inflammation. Clazakizumab has been specially engineered to remove antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC) and complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC). In addition to Phase 1 safety studies, several large multinational Phase 2 clinical studies for the treatment of both rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA) have been completed, all with positive outcomes. As a pleiotropic (broadly-acting) cytokine, IL-6 is well-known to play a central role in systemic inflammation in numerous disease conditions beyond RA and PsA. Building on the promising safety and efficacy data from completed Phase 2 studies in these diseases, Vitaeris is exploring potential innovative applications for blocking IL-6 biology in diseases characterized by chronic inflammation.
