• Our vision is a world where rural Kenyans possess the knowledge, power and tools necessary to lead healthy, safe and productive lives. COCE embraces a change strategy utilizing community-driven, strength-based approaches to leveraging local and external resources needed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable youth, including AIDS orphans, living in rural western Kenya. We believe in the value of family and community networks and seek to strengthen their ability to provide for and support youth in accomplishing their goals. In 2015, COCE will look to expand its vision to include women's services. We aspire to solidify our role in the community through the construction of the Center for Hope, a multi-purpose center for the communitys most vulnerable members: women and children. Center for Hope will provide meal supplements, after school programming, counseling for victims of violence, and emergency shelter for those in desperate need. We hope to partner with our local community friends through the promotion of the most basic human rights: education, opportunity and freedom from violence and oppression. We strive to offer opportunity to those who have been deprived of these basic needs. Through education, vocational support and therapeutic intervention, we hope to empower community members to build successful lives.
