- PADRES PEDAL THE CAUSE is San Diego's Premier Cycling Cancer Fundraiser having raised over $4.7 million towards life-saving cancer research since 2013. 100% of proceeds stay in San Diego to help create A World Without Cancer. Padres Pedal provides funding for the best cancer research ideas at all three of San Diego's NCI-designated Cancer Centers: Moores Cancer Center at UC San Diego Health, Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute and The Salk Institute for Biological Studies. Rady Childrens Hospital-San Diego joined the Pedal family of beneficiaries in 2015. Currently, Rady Childrens collaborates with UC San Diego Health on treatments and research related to childhood cancers still the most vastly and consistently underfunded of all cancer research initiatives.Join us for the 2017 Padres Pedal The Cause ride on Nov. 11-12, 2017 with different ride options starting at Petco Park, San Diego including a ride over the iconic Coronado Bay Bridge. All ride details can be found at GoPedal.org.WHY WE RIDE. Cancer shows no mercy. One in two men and one in three women will have cancer in their lifetimes. It has touched every one of us in some way. Our mission is to provide funding for the best cancer research ideas at San Diego's three National Cancer Institute-designated cancer centers - Moores Cancer Center at UC San Diego Health, Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute and Salk Institute of Biological Studies along Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego. 100% of the proceeds stay in San Diego with these beneficiaries.Collaborations between these complementary cancer centers create greater opportunities to fast-track research from the bench top to the bedside. For patients that can't wait, this means faster access to life saving treatment and cures. It is our hope that research funded by Pedal the Cause will ultimately lead in a collaborative way to a cure for cancer, and propel San Diego to the forefront of cancer cures and care.
