• Vivace Youth Chorus of San Jose's mission is to give youth the opportunity to experience the power and poetry of song in an inclusive environment that fosters community, confidence and artistic growth, and creates awareness of our participants cultures. Vivace is a high-quality music education program offering seven levels of instruction to youth ages 418 in Santa Clara County. Rooted in the Kodály methodology, we teach first through singing, movement, and games, followed by music reading, writing, and theory. This pedagogical approach allows students to naturally progress from our introductory Rising Notes class to our advanced Teen Mens, Womens, and A Cappella Ensembles.Established in 2003, Vivace serves youth throughout the South Bay regardless of economic, cultural, educational, and other backgrounds. Centrally located in Willow Glen, Vivace provides easily accessible services to youth from multiple communities in the county, including San Jose, Morgan Hill, Santa Clara, Mountain View, and Saratoga, among others. Our East San Jose program includes satellite choirs at Foothill Presbyterian Church and significant financial aid to youth from under-served areas, which enables participation in any of Vivaces programs. This program supports our vision to deliver arts education to Santa Clara Countys under-served communities, helping to bridge the gap caused by limited school and household budgets.
