(Based on July 2012 article in The Atlantic). - The unemployment rate among women maintaining families is 45% higher than the national average. (Based on Jan. 2013 U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics)Gals Starting Over is a non-profit organization with a mission to change the dynamics of how we, as a community, empower women to build their skills and confidence to achieve self-sufficiency. Our Program is designed to build a community of training and support through: - Community agencies nominating clients for the program - Volunteers empathetic to the clients personal challenges - Coaches from the community and our graduates - Outreach to potential employers - Involvement of 2 & 4 year colleges and local trade schools - Workshops focused on finding our clients talents and building skills to obtain and retain a job - Events that build our clients confidence
