Youth in The Middle is a nonprofit organization that is focused mainly on strengthening the middle class through education. Education is very much required to help improve the middle class. Since the recession, the types of jobs that are considered middle class jobs have changed. These days, it is becoming more and more difficult to remain within or advance into the middle class bracket without any form of higher education. We as an organization have noticed the increase of college tuition and the stagnation of the average salary in America. Most middle class families do not have the available funds to pay for their children's tuition out of pocket. This puts the average middle class youth in a bind because their family makes too much money for them to qualify for federal financial aid including grants and most scholarships. So in turn, middle class youth seeking to continue education after high school have to take out hefty private loans. Most are in debt before they ever get their first career job. Youth In the Middle wants to offer a program that gives financial support to middle class youth through scholarships, as well as provide a mentoring program to guide them financially.
