• Founded in 1975, Bard, Rao + Athanas Consulting Engineers (BR+A) maintains a total staff of 300+ employees located at our main office in Boston, MA and branch offices in New York, NY; Washington, DC (McLean, VA); Philadelphia, PA; Miami, FL (Coral Gables, FL); St. Louis, MO; and Chicago, IL. We provide full MEP/FP engineering, sustainable design consulting, energy modeling, low voltage system design, architectural lighting design, building commissioning and LEED Consulting / submission services from feasibility studies / concept through construction administration. On all of our projects we work closely with the architect and owner during the planning and programming stages to select the appropriate systems and locate them within the building. This includes the analysis of intakes and exhausts, analysis of architectural components, provision of major utilities and an energy analysis to help determine the most cost effective energy efficient system.Bard, Rao + Athanas Consulting Engineers has a design and management philosophy based upon the most senior experienced staff being involved in providing engineering leadership and excellence vis-a-vis hands-on and day-to-day engineering for projects rather than senior management personnel concentrating on and providing in-house business and administrative-focused leadership. We are an engineering practice-focused firm first and a business-oriented firm second. This important emphasis has resulted in the focus of our energies to providing proven state-of-the-art leadership in the design and engineering of the mechanical and electrical disciplines for a variety of project types. All BR+A engineering projects are staffed, designed and managed by at least one principal.
