• We are an ecumenical ministry of St. Benedict Catholic Church of Crystal River, Florida, and a charitable nonprofit organization under the Diocese of St. Petersburg. We serve the impoverished, the homeless and the struggling families with children of Citrus County primarily with food, clothing and some financial assistance, mostly toward rent or utilities. We also provide referrals to other service providers. Clients must meet our eligibility criteria in order to obtain services. We also have a thrift store open to the public, offering affordable clothing, appliances, furniture and other household items for re-sale, which generates revenue for our social services and our operational budget. Our thrift store, food pantry and social services office are open from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday through Friday (except on federal holidays, Good Friday, the week of July 4th, and the week before Christmas through New Year's Day). Clients must arrive with required documentation before 11 a.m. for clothing and financial help, and before 1:30 p.m. for food. Daystar is open to people of all faiths, all heritages and all social backgrounds for the help we offer and for the volunteers and donations we need. We have been serving Citrus County since 1983.
