• Rain McDermott started the Dallas Caramel Company in 2007 to satiate her curiosity: could she make delicious caramel that would satisfy her sweet tooth? While her dentist did not approve of her fixation with sweets, her friends and family did and encouraged her to introduce her perfectly creamy and soft caramel candy to residents of Dallas and beyond. In 2012 Rain opened her doors and began taking orders for her delicious treats. Making caramel takes precision, patience, the freshest ingredients, hard work, determination, some creative experimentationand a good candy thermometer! Dallas Caramel Company proudly delivers a diverse range of 12 flavors, including Sea Salt, Orange, Cinnamon, Chai, Coconut, Espresso, Chipotle, Amaretto, Drunken Nut (Texas Whiskey & Texas Pecans), Pumpkin, Bacon and Traditional Caramel. Many of the flavors are inspired by Dallas, the city close to Rains heart. A native Texan, Rain grew up in Houston and moved to Plano at the age of 7. When she turned 9, her father took her on a date to the Reunion Tower which inspired her creativity and propelled her desire to leave her own mark on the city. Ever since that day, she has been captivated by Dallas, its people, its culture, and its iconic skyline. Now, Rain hopes that her caramel will become a new signature part of Dallas and will transport everyone who takes a bite to the city she loves and calls home. Her caramels have been described as bold, unapologetically delicious, and with flavor as big as Texas.
