• The purpose of the Sportfishing Association of California (SAC) is to promote tourism and recreational marine activities on the pacific coast. The Sportfishing Association of California (SAC) is constantly working with different agencies such as the USCG, Navy, NMFS, FCC, the Congress, the California Legislature, the Department of Fish and Game, the Mexican Government, etc. who have a direct impact on our sportfishing interests. SAC officers and directors serve on various advisory panels in the state and federal arena and can represent sportfishings interests before an adverse action takes place. SAC acts as an early warning system for the marine recreational industry to identify potential obstacles that may impede the future of our businesses, livelihood, and sport we all love. The Sportfishing Association of California (SAC) was founded in 1972 by leaders in the sportfishing industry in Southern California who realized the value of an organization speaking out on behalf of their interests. Now starting in its forth decade, SAC has proven and will continue to prove how valuable it is to sportfishing in California. SAC is incorporated under federal law as a non-profit business league, known also as a 501 (c) (6) corporation, and it is operated mainly on dues from its members. Broad industry support is therefore critical.
