• PARC is dedicated to preserving the vital green spaces of our natural surroundings, expanding and supporting works of art and artists in our community, ensuring all children have free access to recreational opportunities, and expanding the rich cultural diversity that is so valued in Thurston County. Mission: The mission of the PARC Foundation of Thurston County is to promote donations for both facilities and programs to serve Thurston County residents in the areas of parks, arts, recreation, and culture. We are an entirely volunteer, 501(c)(3) organization with experience and contacts in our mission areas. Our board of trustees includes members of the parks and recreation or arts and culture advisory boards of Thurston County, Lacey, Tumwater, and Olympia. History: As a former resident of Spokane, Washington, James Reddick was aware that the 1951 formation of the Spokane Parks Foundation stimulated millions of dollars in support of parks for the citizens of Spokane. Following several introductory discussions with local park departments in 1995, the PARC Foundation of Thurston County was established using the Spokane Parks Foundation as a model. PARCs first funded project was the hugely popular Olympia Skate Court on Cooper Point Road in west Olympia.
