• We envision a community in which all of the needs of abused and neglected children are met. Our mission is to empower and support abused and neglected children in the care of Child Protective Services. Partnerships for Children facilitates private sector support to help meet these needs through five core programs, including: The Rainbow Room, YES Mentoring, Holiday Wishes, The Heart Gallery, and Caseworker Appreciation.Rainbow Room: 24/7 emergency resource rooms located on site at the Department of Family and Protective Services offices in North and South Austin. Caseworkers can come in any time of the day or night to select necessity items for the children in their care. The rooms are stocked with only new items such as clothing, shoes, toys, diapers, formula, school supplies, hygiene and cleaning products. Caseworkers may also submit requests for larger items like car seats, beds, and sports equipment, which are not regularly stocked in the Rainbow Room. YES Mentoring: provides funding and support for a variety of programs aimed at preparing youth that are about to age out of state care at age 18. The YES program is aimed at improving youths self-esteem and enhancing their ability to make responsible decisions through mentoring, training and financial support.Heart Gallery of Central Texas: portrait exhibit and community education/outreach initiative featuring children in the foster care system who are waiting for adoption. Forever Families is a weekly TV segment that is designed to highlight some of these kids and educate viewers on the issues that surround foster care adoptions. Holiday Wishes: creates holiday memories for children in the care of CPS. Caseworkers submit wish lists to Partnerships for Children and the children are matched with donors in the Austin community who want to help make a childs holiday wish come true.
