- As a JK-12 co-ed independent school in Richmond, Virginia, The Steward School's mission is to prepare our students for college and for life in a community defined by robust academics, inspiration, engagement, and care.Founded in 1972, The Steward School serves boys and girls in junior kindergarten through grade 12. With a college-preparatory curriculum, small classes, individual attention, extracurricular enterprises, and an in-school tutoring program, Steward is designed to help students reach their educational goalsall while harnessing their individual abilities through athletics, fine arts, community service, and interest clubs.
