- Curos disinfecting port protectors created by Ivera Medical are used on swab-able luer-activated valves to disinfect IV access ports within 3 minutes and act as a physical barrier to contamination for up to 7 days if not removed. Nurses simply peel the seal off the cap and twist Curos onto any needleless valve. Inside Curos, alcohol-saturated foam provides passive disinfection of the port, killing the organisms associated with catheter-related bloodstream infections. In line with 2011 INS Standards of Practice, Curos luer-lock attachment ensures that ports stay clean between accesses. The bright green color enables visual verificationwithout creating confusion with other color-specific therapies. Two dispenser optionsthe Curos Strip and individual Curosput caps where nurses need them and limit packaging waste.
