• Lake Shore Radiator & Specialty Auto Parts, the current company name for doing business, started in 1958 as Lake Shore Radiator and Welding Works. The business primarily consisted of a small welding facility and one repair tank to service automobile radiators. Current company President and CEO, Randy Amos, was in elementary school and would come by the shop in the afternoons and learn how to weld and repair radiators. Randy, by the age of 12, was considered one of the better repair men in the Jacksonville Area. He obtained his drivers license at the age of sixteen and soon became a pick-up and delivery driver for the company while still working on the bench. This early exposure to customer service and technical skills has been an invaluable tool for him by understanding the mechanic's needs and how they service their customers' vehicles. Randy continued to work at Lake Shore while graduating from high school and continuing his education and a receiving a B.S. degree from Jacksonville University in 1970 in Economics and Finance.After Graduation from college, Randy continued to work in the family business with one brother who had purchased the majority share of the company. Randy was elected to the Jacksonville City Council in 1975 and served through 1979 when he left elected politics to devote full time to Lake Shore, which he had purchased a 50% share.In 1981, Lake Shore started distributing radiators and condensers in the local region of North Florida and South Georgia. Randy fondly remembers those days of getting on the road at 4:30 A.M. and driving to Georgia to start work at 8:00 A.M. calling on garages, car dealers, and parts stores. The competition was tough, but Randy was determined to tell the Lake Shore Story. In 1989 Randy purchased 100% of Lake Shore and soon thereafter, Lake Shore became one of the South's premier distributors.
