- Urban Rivers is a Chicago-based non-profit organization dedicated to reconnecting communities to urban rivers through ecosystem rehabilitation and education. In Spring 2017, our team will install 200-400 feet of floating gardens in the North Branch of the Chicago River on the East Side of Goose Island as our pilot project; an extension of research performed by our co-founder. By using artificial floating islands to provide desperately needed habitat in urban river environments, we can turn currently unusable space into a way to bring life, investment, and vibrancy back to an often neglected natural resource.
