- Ras Labs believes in developing, fabricating and distributing customized products that have the power to heal and save lives. The company was founded in 2003 with the vision to develop a material that allows for life-like motion and control that can bring form and function together for prosthetic devices. As a result of our recent military conflicts, we are seeing a higher percentage of amputations than we have seen since the Civil War. In April 2013, with the Boston Marathon bombings, we have become acutely aware of the need to provide enabling, healing devices that have the capability to restore mobility and freedom of expression to those who have been injured. Dr. Lenore Rasmussen invented Synthetic Muscle, which is a robust, flexible, polymer based material that has the ability to expand and contract with electric impulse. Ras Labs is seeking opportunities to test, match and use this material in healing devices.
