- At North Star Guidance Center, we believe in a family centered, community focused practice. We maintain an unwavering commitment to building strong, healthy relationships between caretakers, supportive community resources and service providers. Our group provides individual, group, couples and family counseling in the Greater Lowell area. We work collaboratively to provide a comprehensive continuum of care that will best serve both individuals and families. As a group, we encourage integrated approaches to healing and offer a variety of trauma informed services to match particular needs. All of our counselors have experience working with children and families however each clinician brings with them their life experience, expertise and style. Collectively, our clinicians share a vast knowledge of related community systems, health and wellness approaches and evidenced based therapeutic models. Some are as follows: Neurofeedback Mindfulness & Meditation Practices Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Narrative Therapy Attachment Focused Family Therapy Emotionally Focused Therapy Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Hypnosis Emotional Freedom Techniques Equine Assisted Psychotherapy & Equine Assisted EMDR Expressive Therapy Play Therapy Health & Wellness / Nutrition / Alternative Healing Navigating educational, legal and health care systems Counseling can often help people find needed relief from many of these common experiences: Difficulty finding joy Feeling estranged from others Difficulty tolerating calm or quiet Difficulty staying focused, learning or staying on task Pain experienced by loss or an anticipation loss Unexplained or uncontrolled fluctuations in mood Sleep problems such as nightmares, insomnia or hypersomnia Feeling stuck Difficulties with identity or confidence Managing family or work stress Recovery from abuse or neglect Addiction Chronic pain Parenting challenges
