  • Patient Empowerment Network (PEN) is a non-profit patient advocacy organization dedicated to empowering cancer patients and helping them gain confidence and strength to get the best care and most personalized treatment. We want to help them stand up and advocate for themselves and become informed so that they can make the right decisions for them. Decisions about: Their healthcare team Whether to participate in clinical trials and if so, how to navigate the process How to proactively find the best treatment for them Lifestyle choices and living well with their illness. Through patient town meetings and forums, educational videos and materials, outreach programs and other resources, patients tell their stories. They talk about their issues, the decisions they make, and why they make those decisions. They talk about clinical trial enrollment, choosing their doctor, what questions they ask their doctors and how they cope with living with their condition. PEN also interviews doctors, nurses, healthcare providers and industry leaders about the latest advances in cancer treatment. We mainly cover blood cancers (chronic lymphocytic leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, myeloproliferative neoplasms) and lung cancer, melanoma and prostate cancer, but we welcome all cancer patients to come to us about patient empowerment. We invite all our readers, whether they be patients, family members, caregivers, healthcare professionals or industry leaders, to listen to our videos and listen to the Patient Voice. Patients can gain confidence from other patients. Healthcare providers and industry can learn about what patients want and need. Mission Statement To fortify cancer patients and caregivers globally with knowledge and tools, boosting their confidence and putting them in control of their healthcare journey and assisting them to get the state-of-the-art, personalized care they deserve.
