- O+A is a studio for architecture and spatial strategies based at the NDSM shipyard in Amsterdam. The studio's work stretches out from furniture design and temporary installations, to building design and transformation strategies. O+A was founded in 2008 by Marc van Asseldonk (1979) and Auguste van Oppen (1981) upon winning the Europan competition for architects under 40. Since then, the office has a team of architects and spatial specialists at its disposal, with whom work is done on a wide spectrum of commissions and unsolicited initiatives. O+A works on a broad portfolio in the conviction that different fields inform each other. The office is capable of doing so as it draws from a diverse network and considers collaboration to be the point of departure. For each project, varying in challenge, magnitude and complexity, a team is assembled consisting of architects, external advisors and artists. The work of O+A is published globally on blogs and print, most recently in 'Reactivate!: Responsive Innovators of Dutch Architecture' by A10 editor-in-chief Indira van t Klooster.
