Transient Pictures is an Emmy award-winning production company founded in 2005 by partners Jeremy Levine and Landon Van Soest, with a mission of producing innovative, socially charged film. Transients first film, the award-winning documentary WALKING THE LINE about vigilantes along the U.S.-Mexico border, screened in dozens of film festivals around the world, broadcast nationally in six countries, and was recognized with several awards for production and human rights. Their second feature-length project, GOOD FORTUNE, a feature documentary about how efforts to aid Africa may be undermining the very communities they aim to serve, quickly followed suit. The film was awarded the Witness Award for Human Rights at its 2009 Silverdocs Film Festival premiere, the 2011 Overseas Press Club Carl Spielvogel Award for international reporting, and a 2007 grant from the Sundance Institute. Good Fortune was broadcast on the award-winning PBS series, POV, where it won a 2011 Emmy. Transient has also produced a wide range of content for broadcasters and non-profits such as the Sundance Channel, National Geographic, Working Films, United States Artists, and the George St. Playhouse. They are currently producing The Legacy Project, a twenty-part series for the Dramatists Guild Fund profiling theater legends like Edward Albee, Arthur Laurents, and Stephen Sondheim. Levine and Van Soest also co-founded the Brooklyn Filmmakers Collective.
