• MissionThe mission of the Parkinson voice project is to preserve the voices of individuals with Parkinson's and related neurological disorders through intensive speech therapy, follow-up support, research, education, and community awareness.SPEAK OUT!® is a highly effective speech therapy program developed by Parkinson Voice Project that consists of 12 individual speech therapy sessions conducted by a speech-language pathologist trained by Parkinson Voice Project. Together, the patient and the speech-language pathologist work their way through a series of speech, voice, and cognitive exercises outlined in a comprehensive workbook, which will provided to every patient in the U.S. as a gift from Parkinson Voice Project. Upon completion of SPEAK OUT!,® each patient enters the maintenance phase of Parkinson Voice Project's two-part therapy program. Since Parkinsons is a progressive, degenerative condition, maintaining the strength of ones voice can be a challenge. People with Parkinson's often struggle with motivation as a result of the lack of dopamine in the brain.In 1999, Parkinson Voice Projects founder developed The LOUD Crowd. This maintenance program consists of speech therapy groups and a singing program to help patients maintain the strength of their voices. The LOUD Crowd provides ongoing vocal practice, accountability, support, and encouragement. By participating in LOUD Crowd, patients have been shown to maintain their SPEAK OUT! results for more than five years and counting. The vision of Parkinson Voice Project is to collaborate with other compassionate speech-language pathologists to replicate our model program so that individuals with Parkinsons and related neurological disorders throughout the world will have access to our SPEAK OUT!® and LOUD Crowd® therapy programs.
