- Young Artist Society (YAS) empowers future generations to pursue education, serve their community and excel using creative art. The heart of our music program is the hands on, real-world training in the music industry. We explore all music related careers, however, the crux of the matter remains: Developing yourself as an artist or producer is a business. Our primary goal is to empower the most at-risk high school students in Arizona to graduate from high school. We use music as the tool to keep them on track. YAS targets charter high schools where youth focus on credit recovery. These students are identified as the greatest risks for dropping out. Mentors currently work in a school that has a 41% graduation rate; 74% of its students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Some are young parents. YAS programming in this school has resulted in 100% retention or graduation of those students participating in our classes.
