The Sporting Woman Community Fund

• The mission of The Sporting Woman Community Fund is to provide financial and material support to women and girls across Colorado who wish to participate in life-changing dreams through sports or Nature. We have two programs that we offer at the current time. Since 2003, we have given away over $50,000 to women and girls in our community who have stretched themselves beyond what they ever believed possible. In past years, we have funded barrel racers and budding ice hockey players. There are young women who have experienced mountain bike racing for the first time, and others, whose dreams of shooting hoops, have been fulfilled through the support of The Sporting Woman Community Fund.In 2013, we launched the Outside INitiative as a way to restore equal footing to women who are underserved by the resources in our community. The curriculum that we have developed encourages women to learn about themselves from the outside in. The participants in the pilot programs connected with new people, discovered they are not alone and developed an appreciation for mindfulness as it relates to change in their own lives. We look forward to the continued success of the Outside INitiative as a way to develop strengths, introduce self-care and create a supportive, sustainable community among women who are climbing beyond the disadvantage to touch the sky.
