• People are born into this world without any replacement parts. When we get sick or injured we cant just order more. One day medical science might learn how to build and connect new biological parts, but for now we need to fill the need with prosthetics. For simple parts like joints (knees and hips) we have some pretty good options, but for things like eyes, spinal cords and arms, nothing approaches the real thing in terms of utility. For decades weve been waiting for a future where robotic limbs and sensors will be able to replace biological parts. At Paradromics, we believe that future is already here. Robotic arms already do some of the most complex tasks that we do like perform surgeries and assemble cars. The cell phones that each of us have in our pockets today have high definition cameras and voice recognition. The next generation of neural prosthetics isnt being held back by robotics or sensor technology, it is limited by the bandwidth and resilience of the links we use to interface with the brain. Thats where we come in. We are developing a high-bandwidth neural interface that uses hundreds of thousands of microwires, each smaller than a human hair. It will act like a modem for the brain. We are developing this technology as a tool and a platform that will enable biomedical device companies to address a range of neural prosthetic applications.
