The continued realization of this purpose led Itrim to the U.S. in 2011.In 1999, Birgitta Thörn decided to lose weight once and for all. After her second child, she had put on 66 lbs and had tried numerous diets. She began studying weight loss, diet and motivation, and drew on her background of running an exercise center and being a leading group exercise instructor in Scandinavia. What she developed was a program that included a comprehensive, no-nonsense, low calorie diet, exercise plan and ongoing motivation and she successfully lost the 66 lbs. Friends began approaching her, asking for her help with their own weight loss problems and over a series of years, she refined what is now the basis of the Itrim program. Since establishing the first Itrim center in Sweden in 2003, partners Birgitta and Gregor Thorn, Martin Anderlind, Anders Sandblom and Anders Lindgren, have developed over 30 franchise centers and licensee centers today. Itrim International was recently recognized as the 2012 Swedish Franchise of the Year and continues to grow with increasing demand.
