- At Zina Kao, we believe all beautiful materials have a story to tell - a tale brought to life through a simplicity of design and an abundance of care in the sourcing and making.Quality materials are a paramount starting point. We use sterling silver supplied by a domestic refinery, supple American leathers, cotton grown and milled in the USA. We pattern, cut and sew our leathers in our studio, plate our sterling silver right here in Oakland and do all of our dyeing in small batches in our dye workshop. In short, we make everything we sell.Its rare and wonderful to be able to make an item, beginning to end, with materials from home. Beautiful things, made with care, made in America by people who love and live the craft are the ideals we stand by.Our home is California, a creative place where makers and creators thrive in harmony with nature. Its a place we feel right at home.
