• Join the global effort to reach the UN 's Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)! The Unforgotten is working towards the MDGs to (1) Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger, by helping those whose income is less than $1 US per day, (2) Increase access to safe drinking water, (3) Achieve universal primary education, and (4) Promote gender equality and empower women. The Unforgotten is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) public charity that targets aid to the hungry mothers and their children that survive as wastepickers in the trash dumps of developing countries The Unforgotten. Our projects are directed towards helping them reach these MDGs. We provide meals for children that were looking through the trash for food to eat and enroll them in primary school. We provide microloans and skills training to the mothers to start businesses, so that the families do not become dependent on our aid. The Charity is based in the US, with field offices in India, Zambia, and Sierra Leone (and is planning operations in Nepal). All donations are directed towards program services and projects, because the Charity operates with little overhead. The Charity is governed by an active (volunteer) Board of Directors, and hires only local (in-country) staff to execute our work. Our Country offices in India, Zambia and Sierra Leone are staffed with 14 field experts. The Unforgotten has a Board of Directors composed of 13 engaged philanthropists. The Charity's annual operating budget is approximately $100K. Thank you to our supporters for making this work possible! And thank you to our dedicated Board and staff!
