- The National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions is an organization of over 1850 health professions advisors at colleges and universities throughout the United States and abroad. Established in 1974, NAAHP is the voice of health professions advising. It provides a platform from which health professions advisors across the nation can collaborate, network, and learn, in the support of the students whom they serve. NAAHP has grown steadily into an effective national clearinghouse for information for advisors, including news from partners in diverse health professions. The success of NAAHP is supported by its four regional associations Central (CAAHP), Northeast (NEAAHP), Southeast (SAAHP) and West (WAAHP) most advisors are members of both their regional and the national association. NAAHP encourages each regional group and each member to share their experiences and information with other regions and advisors, and has given all advisors a nationally recognized forum in which to state their views and share their research and best practices through regular meetings, online communication, members-only website content, and the NAAHP professional journal, The Advisor. NAAHP has established formal partnerships with eighteen professional associations for the health professions whose representatives sit on an Advisory Council and work in partnership with designated liaisons and directly with the NAAHP Board of Directors to support and inform NAAHP's work. It welcomes members who serve an advisory capacity for prospective health professionals through work in health professions schools, health professions associations, colleges and universities.
