• Lucy Daniels Center is a nationally recognized model for childhood mental health services. Founded in 1989 with a generous start-up gift from Lucy Daniels, Ph.D., a local writer and clinical psychologist, the Center is the Triangle, NC, area's largest and most comprehensive nonprofit provider of child mental health services. Staff members serve on the front lines assisting children 11 years old or younger who are having behavioral or social difficulties or showing signs of emotional problems. The Center offers onsite family/child therapy; therapy in both English and Spanish for eligible children in their homes or childcare centers, many of them Medicaid eligible; and a school for preschool through Grade 3. The Center also offers opportunities for early childhood educator training through mentoring, workshops and publications.The Lucy Daniels School offers classes for preschool through elementary in a nurturing academic setting designed for children whose social and emotional concerns may affect their academic success. Admission is rolling and the School may be contacted at any time. Our Mission Statement: The Lucy Daniels Center helps children live emotionally healthy lives through in-depth evaluation and treatment, family involvement, and education.
