- An ambitious telemedicine initiative - born from a Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) D-Lab class by MIT and Harvard Medical School affiliates - aiming to provide cultural-language matched specialist care for undeserved patients in post-conflict countries in the Middle East and North Africa. Through an advanced telecommunication platform patients are able to reach remote skilled Libyan specialists practicing within countries or abroad. Speetar's goal is to improve care by improving access, and ensuring patients are seen by appropriate & qualified providers at the right time and setting to receive high quality, convenient & affordable care.Through Speetar we seek to achieve the following:Support local on-ground physicians.Deliver fast response to patients health needs, including urgent and critical care.Help avoid unnecessary transfers, by improving care for residents where they live.Coordinate referrals to additional medical specialists within Libya and abroad.Provide a platform for multidisciplinary collaboration of medical specialists.Build local capacity via remote training of junior physicians.
