J.Lingnau Jewelry was founded in Evanston, IL in 2007 by Joanna Lingnau. The line is handmade in Chicago using recycled precious metals and natural stones.Joanna grew up on the beaches of Bainbridge Island near Seattle, Washington, and the ocean continues to influence her life and work. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College, attended Université Paris-Sorbonne and FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology). Formerly a designer at Katayone Adeli and Gap Inc. among others, Joanna is inspired by jewelry techniques from the past, designing effortlessly elegant jewelry with a bohemian edge. Jewelry is an intimate token of our most meaningful events and relationships. I aspire to make luxurious pieces that can be worn every day and be passed on for generations.As part of J. Lingnau's commitment to social responsibility, a portion of our revenues are donated to charities promoting women's health and welfare, including the Fistula Foundation and the YWCA North Shore.
