• At J.Ridout, family portraiture is more than just a pretty picture - tt is a message to the world that we care and love each other. Commissioning a portrait of such importance requires careful planning and preparation. We ask a lot of our clients, and they demand perfection from us. Our process begins with an In-Home Consultation. We visit you at your home to discover your desires for custom portraiture. We chat about your experiences and expectations, get to know your family and how you relate to each other and discuss whether you are considering Studio or Location portraiture. On the day of the sitting, most of the decisions have already been made. A few weeks later, we meet for an Order Appointment, again, in the comfort of your home. All decision makers are expected to be present as we guide you through the process of choosing your favorite images and then making final decisions about size, finish and frame. Eight to twelve weeks later, we deliver and install the portraits in your home. We realize the investment that our portraiture requires; it is for those hallmark stages in life that mark a significant time in each familys history. We call it 5 times in a lifetime The new family: These years are perfect for our Relationship Fine Art Black & White Portraits. The little boy or girl. This stage is so exciting; between 3 and 7 years old for a formal studio portrait of the little ones. The complete family with 8-12 year old children. The family just as the home begins to empty; usually when the first child is a high school senior. The family reunion. The kids are grown and come back with young children of their own. We are not the studio for every moment in lifejust the hallmark moments that demand time, attention, forethought, artistry, detail and most importantly celebration. So that when you gaze upon your portrait you will remember that timethat is your heart on the wall. These moments are priceless.
