• FamilyCorps is a SC statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to providing critical parenting and family skill building programs that are needed to ensure children are not placed into foster care and are not detained in juvenile justice. All of FamilyCorps' programs are evidence based and are whole family programs premised on the belief that by providing support, education and resources to the whole family, the whole family can be healed, resulting in the highest possibility that children will be able to safely remain in the homes of their parents. FamilyCorps is the only accredited organization in South Carolina to offer the evidence-based Parents Anonymous program model. Parents Anonymous is the oldest and most researched parenting program in the country and the only program model listed in the CAPTA (Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act) statue. Research shows that the Parents Anonymous Peer Support Groups increase a caregiver's protective factors associated with positive parenting. We currently operate 64 Parents Anonymous Groups either adult or children and youth groups in 27 South Carolina counties.Another evidence-based program that we offer is Strengthening Families Program. This is a 14-week program that children and parents attend together and has research that demonstrates positive outcomes for families affected by substance abuse. Families who participate in the program learn family life skills to make long lasting changes in their family.We also offer Triple P parenting curriculum classes in Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester Counties. Triple P is an evidence based parenting program with 30 years of clinical research supporting the outcomes of those who participate. The 6-week class teaches parents positive discipline strategies for children.FamilyCorps offers a statewide Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Training open to all adults interested in the well-being of children but strongly encouraged for mandated reporters.
