- Spiegelworld began creating its immersive live entertainment experiences in New York City in 2006.At the core of this seductive world was a unique venue a century-old Belgian spiegeltent beautifully crafted from teak, stained glass, mirrors and luxurious velvet. The tiny circular stage at the centre of the intimate spiegeltent informed the creation of all of Spiegelworlds ground-breaking live shows which reinvented circus, cabaret, vaudeville and burlesque for a 21st century audience. A larrikin Australian creative team and the most talented, sexy and daring artists from across the globe presented breath-taking physical feats, outrageous comedy and seductive teases as close to the audience as they could possibly get.For three years, Spiegelworld was a summer institution under the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge on Pier 17 in downtown New York City, as well as touring to Miami South Beach and Melbourne, where it was the featured entertainment of the 2009 Australian Open tennis grand slam.In 2011, Spiegelworld opened its award-winning show Absinthe on the forecourt of Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The production has been hailed as the most inventive and daring show to open on the strip in years! (Las Vegas Sun),and was announced the Best Show in Vegas by Vegas Seven Magazine.In the summer of 2012 Spiegelworld premiered Empire on Broadway. Empire has since completed a hugely successful, 17-month tour of Australia, a three month run in Tokyo and more recently a 4 month run in New Zealand. In April of 2015, the show will embark on a multi-city Canadian tour.Spiegelworld recently announced the creation of a second company of their lauded Las Vegas show, Absinthe. The second production will tour Australia in 2015.
