- Founded in 1986 by entrepreneur Dan Daniels and supported by microbiologist Alan Perciville, the Daniels Corporation (or Integrated Sharps Disposal Systems as it was then known), was established in response to an influx of needlestick injuries incurred by healthcare workers in the height of the aids epidemic. Driven by a single ideal - to create a sharps container that eliminates needlestick injuries, Dan Daniels started the business in his garage using rudimentary materials, self-formed prototypes and a zealousness and conviction that drew healthcare professionals from Melbourne based hospitals to support his vision to create a safe and sustainable sharps system. The result: the first ever concept of a reusable sharps containment system which achieved greater strength, stability and durability in its materials and construction, and a higher degree of sustainability than could never be attained with disposable containers.
