We believe that everyone at the company should benefit from our investment, and we structure our deals to ensure that is the case. Our impact investment is made through two types of investments in the company. We purchase an equity stake and we provide a loan to an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). As a result both employees and investors can benefit from our investment in the company. Employee ownership does not accomplish our goal on its own. We also work with management and the employees to develop an ownership culture that is tailored to the culture that already exists within the company. Focus on Impact, Not Growth: Darby Creek Capitals focus is on impact, not growth. We look at growth and change as a way to reach impact based goals. Instead of growth for growths sake we prioritize goals such as employee development, key supplier support, or impacting a community. If a growth strategy does not achieve our goals then we are comfortable leaving the company at its current size.
