One in 5 of our countys children are living in poverty. Twenty percent of our high school students did not graduate in 2007. Ten percent of residents do not have health insurance, and many more are not receiving the basic services they need to maintain good health.At United Waywe simply will not accept these conditions. Not in our backyard. We believe the building blocks for a good life are: education, income and health. Everyone needs a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family and good health. Our goal is to create long-lasting changes by addressing the underlying causes of problems.It takes everyone in the community working together to create a brighter future. So we bring together people from all across the communitygovernment, business, faith groups, nonprofits, the labor movement, ordinary citizensto tackle the issues. Because we all win when a child succeeds in school, when a family becomes financially stable, and when people have good health.
