• The State Theater of Rhode Island, Trinity Repertory Company is now celebrating its 53rd season. Since its founding in 1963, Trinity Repertory Company has been one of the most respected regional theaters in the country. Featuring the last permanent resident acting company in America, Trinity Rep presents a balance of world premiere, contemporary, and classic works for an estimated annual audience of approximately 120,000. Over the past five decades, the theater has produced 67 world premieres, mounted national and international tours, and, through its MFA program, trained hundreds of new actors and directors. Trinity Rep's pioneering educational outreach program Project Discovery is in its 50th year. This season, Trinity Reps educational programs will reach over 25,000 Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut students through matinees as well as in-school residencies and workshops. Brown University/Trinity Rep offers professional training for actors and directors in a three-year MFA program. Trinity Rep's 2016-2017 season includes the musical BEOWULF: A THOUSAND YEARS OF BAGGAGE by Jason Craig and Dave Malloy, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins' APPROPRIATE, THE MOUNTAINTOP by Katori Hall, Shakespeare's A MIDSUMMER NIGHT's DREAM, FAITHFUL CHEATERS by Deborah Salem Smith, FUENTE OVEJUNA (THE SHEEP'S WELL) by Lope de Vega Carpio, and the theater's annual musical production A CHRISTMAS CAROL, reinvented and re-envisioned each year.
