• The National School of Academic Equitation is located in Snohomish, 30 minutes from Seattle. NSAE is internationally reknowned classical equitation scholar, trainer, intructor, and clinician Craig Stevens' US center for equitation studies.We train horses, teach riders, and train long term, committed students to become professional trainers and teachers themselves.The modern method of training and teaching is based on relatively recent developments designed for military applications-- modern riders find the common method shuts horses down or makes them crazy. The problem is completely predictable, and it is in the method, not the student or the horse.Our students come from all over the US, Canada and Europe to learn this very old, almost forgotten, and sometimes actively suppressed approach to working with the horse. In addition to intensives (private riding retreats at NSAE) Craig and his wife Mary Anne, as well as their assistants, travel to give clinics and private lessons all over the world to being the ideas to your horses at home.It's fun, horses worked this way are relaxed and progress very quickly-- when was the last time you rode an easy piaffe? And the rider is empowered to learn to think things through themselves.
