• Radical Combustion Technologies (RCT) is clean-tech start-up focused on Legacy-integral internal combustion engines in the Natural Gas Pipeline Industry. Our Green Technology products will fundamentally change the in-cylinder combustion process, thereby dramatically reducing pollutant emissions while simultaneously lowering operating costs. RCT's first product, Regenerative Heat Retaining Element (RHRE), is a proven, IP-protected technology used in UAV engines like the on the Scan Eagle as used in the Captain Phillips rescue mission. Bench-level and mid-stage natural gas-fueled scale-up tests demonstrate substantially reduced pollutant emissions, while improving engine performance. RCTs initial target market is 5,600 Legacy engines owned by natural gas pipeline companies cumulatively generating about 10 million horsepower (HP). Legacy engines, built and installed decades ago, are large engines averaging 2,200 HP per engine used to compress natural gas through interstate pipelines. Pipeline owners have struggled over many years to meet increasingly restrictive EPA emission mandates. Engines are not likely to meet expected more stringent future regulations using present technology. Also, current pollutant-reduction solutions being deployed tend to degrade engine operating performance, often simultaneously increasing fuel consumption and maintenance expenses. The natural gas pipeline industry estimates Legacy emissions-compliance cost exposure could be as high as $6 billion. RHRE technology offers a significantly lower-cost solution.RCT is currently raising $5 million in a Series A financing round to fund the scale-up to Legacy-size engines.
