Pure Blue is a nonprofit organization that collects, multiplies and shares resources to support the development and commercialization of water technology innovation. Pure Blue has created the Clean Water Innovation Initiative (CWII), a 3-year project funded by a U.S. Department of Commerces Economic Development Agency grant and matching private contributions. Its mission is to accelerate and streamline the development and implementation of impactful water-related innovations through 3 interrelated pillars: 1) Water Innovation Nexus Accelerator (WIN Accelerator): A physical brick-and-mortar proof of concept center (POCC) and accelerator for early-stage and mid-stage (from concept to TRL 6) development of novel, market-driven, high-impact, water-related technologies and solutions. WIN helps early and mid-stage companies, entrepreneurs, researchers, and innovators cross the valley of death by providing resources (including lab space, knowledge, connections, and capital) to accelerate and streamline technology and business development from concept to working prototype to commercial pilot to sales to scale. 2) Alliance: Coordinates the creation and execution of a cohesive regional agenda with specified roles, schedules, and budgets. The Alliance includes a virtual commercialization center / web-based platform for efficiently communicating and collaborating at scale, supporting water entrepreneurs and innovators, uploading and sharing information between parties and sectors, and managing multi-stakeholder regional projects. The platform will leverage the know-how and best practices of 15 North American water clusters and apply this knowledge to strengthen and expand WIN Accelerator and Pure Blue Fund operations and allied water clusters. 3) Fund: A seed-stage equity investment fund to accelerate disruptive water technology companies from prototype to scaled commercialization.
