• Avodah is a national network of Jewish leaders working to fight domestic poverty and promote social justice.Founded in New York City in 1998, we support these leaders through four approaches:1. The Jewish Service Corps: we place young Jewish adults, 21-26 years of age, in a year of full-time service at antipoverty organizations in Chicago, New York, New Orleans, and Washington, DC. During the year, Corps Members live together as a community and participate in weekly educational programs to deepen their understanding of domestic poverty and explore their work through the lens of Jewish tradition.2. The Avodah Justice Fellowship: a selective six month, high-impact learning, professional development, and community-building experience for Jewish early-career professionals working on domestic social and economic justice issues in Chicago and New York City.3. Alumni Network: with nearly 800 members across the country, we support Avodah alumni through ongoing programming, engagement, and advanced skill-building.4. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: our network is a tremendous repository of knowledge on our nations most pressing social and economic issues and Jewish responses to them. Our staff, participants, alumni, and lay leadership include educators, rabbis, organizers, social workers, and activists of all stripes. We reach out to the Jewish community (and beyond) in order to deepen their own understanding of these issues by sharing the Avodah perspective.
