- Anoplate was founded by Milt Stevenson, Sr., in 1960 to serve a growing need among small, locally based machine shop and tool industry. Today Anoplate operates from a 104,000 square foot facility, single location in Central New York State, employing 200 persons. Anoplate offers SURFACE ENGINEERING: imparting properties such as improved corrosion resistance, lowered resistance to wear or friction, reduced light reflection or simply enhanced aesthetic appearance to the surface of a material that otherwise the substrate material does not possess. We perform this by metal finishing which may entail the use of plating of copper, nickel, chromium, zinc, silver, gold, cadmium and tin, various types of anodizing of light metals, conversion coatings such as passivation and phosphating, dry film lubrication, and vacuum impregnation. Weve successfully plated or anodized hardened steel, all types of stainless steel, shape memory alloys, aluminum-lithium alloys, engineering plastics, graphite, titanium, hafnium, and niobium. No substrate material is too exotic or too complicated. Anoplate's reputation for quality and workmanship, diversity in processes offered, and ability to meet rigid specifications has led it to serve a broad base of industries including aerospace, computers, defense, electronics, medical, optics, and recreation.
