• In 1995 Aviation Specialties Unlimited, Inc. (ASU), was established in Boise, Idaho, to meet the growing demand for night vision systems within public and civil aviation operations. Since that time, ASU has demonstrated the true definition of a complete Go-to company for both rotor-wing and fixed-wing aircraft operations.Founder and CEO of ASU, Mike Atwood, has been involved since the inception of night vision technology with both military and civil applications. The evolution of night vision systems has transformed the aviation industry during the last few decades and ASU has been at the forefront of this revolution helping to make night operations safer and more dependable.The beneficiaries of these efforts are not limited to Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Law Enforcement, and Search and Rescue operations, but also encompass communities across our nation protecting public safety, natural resources, and the welfare of those executing critical missions.Today, society is demanding smarter technology and a safer environment without compromising quality or efficiency. ASU is accepting that challenge with our continued Innovation for a Safer Tomorrow.ASU recently expanded our corporate headquarters into a brand new 27,000 sq. ft. state of the art facility. This includes 15,000 sq. ft. of hangar space, a 4,000 sq. ft. manufacturing area, and 8,000 sq. ft. of beautiful office space, much of which is dedicated to research and development of innovative new products and solutions. The addition of the new facility gives ASU a total of 39,000 sq. ft. of operations. 2015 marks 20 years ASU has been in business and what began with just a couple employees has grown to over 40 full-time staff. The expansion of our facility and staff will help ASU to better serve customers around the world.
