• The Sake Sommelier Association (SSA) is a not-for-profit association formed to promote the understanding, education, and appreciation of Japanese Sake.It is the first organization in the UK to offer sake education outside of Japan, we are base in London and provide Sake sommelier certification all over the world.Candidates passing the Sake Navigator and Certified Sake Sommelier will become a sake sommelier (this certificate is accredited by the SSA).The Association offer Sake courses for professionals in the drinks industry, as well those who are just interested in learning more about this magical drink!This is a unique course and has drawn positive comments from many experts in the trade, including international world champion sommelier and hotelier Gerard Basset who qualified in our inaugural Sake Sommelier course. Currently the course is formed of two parts, ( Day1/Module 1): The Sake Navigator An entry-level qualification in sake, already taught and recognized by Japan's Service Institute of Japan (SSI) ( Day2/Module 2): the Certified sake sommelier, the only certification of Sake sommelier in the world. We strive to promote global education and awareness of sake to increase opportunities for students to learn the rich cultural history of sake, and to advance the success of sake demand and consumption on a global scale.The Sake Sommelier Association is conducted by Sake specialists Kumiko Ohta , Xavier Chapelou and François Lavergnes.
