• Our mission of strengthening individuals, families and communities is still as relevant today as it was back in 1953 when we first opened our doors. We remain true to our roots and yet we continue to meet the ever changing needs of our clients and our community.Over 7,400 people we help each year come from all walks of life, ages, cultures, and financial backgrounds. They come from families headed by married couples or single parents. They are from multi-generational households. They are isolated seniors, grandparents raising grandchildren, new immigrants, individuals with HIV/AIDS, and individuals with serious mental illness and/or substance abuse disorders.Our programs have also changed and expanded. We have over 120 staff members and a budget of over $5 million. In addition to traditional family counseling, people also come to us for help with illnesses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression disorder, suicidal ideation, drug abuse, just to name a few.We help people where they live and workin our offices, in their schools, in their homes and in their communities. Despite the changes, each person that comes to Family Service has the same hopes and dreams that brought clients into us all those years agothey are striving to overcome a challenge while building a family that loves and cares for one another.
