- Preventing Alzheimers disease progression, early... AZTherapies, Inc. is a privately-held drug targeting company founded in 2011 and headquartered in Boston, MA. We are innovating the discovery, development and commercialization of novel Alzheimers disease therapeutics which will fundamentally improve patient treatment, quality of life and disease management. Preventing Alzheimers disease progression remains a critical unmet need for millions of persons in the US and worldwide. Our advanced knowledge of Alzheimers disease biology, combined with our proprietary scientific discovery, clinical and biomarker imaging expertise, provide AZTherapies with unique prospects to develop novel therapies to impact Alzheimers disease progression. AZTherapies is developing small molecule drugs that block the triggers of dementia, namely interfering with the formation of disease-causing aggregates of amyloid-beta protein oligomers and amyloid plaques, and to reduce inflammation in the brain. The solutions being developed by AZTherapies avoids the problems that have halted past approaches for disease-modifying treatments for Alzheimers disease. The availability of drugs to treat the onset of dementia and Alzheimers disease will eliminate the anxiety of memory loss, personality changes and faulty judgement that become progressively worse as the disease progresses. In addition to discovering new mechanisms of action for FDA-approved drugs which can now be applied to the treatment of Alzheimers disease, we have identified several new drug candidates from our ALZT-OP drug pipeline to block disease-causing amyloid-beta aggregates. We are preparing to launch Phase II/III clinical trials with ALZT-OP1 drug combination for disease modifying therapy in persons with symptoms of early, mild-to-moderate Alzheimers disease.
