- KARA is a NYC based handbag label launched in Fall Winter 2013 by Sarah Law. The line is inspired by individuality, curiosity and modernity.Three years since launching, KARA has expanded global distribution to 50 luxury retailers in 15 countries. Products from the label can be found at department stores and exclusive boutiques like Opening Ceremony, Barneys New York, Net-a-Porter, Lane Crawford, Ssense, Liberty of London, ShopBop, and United Arrows. The company was part of the 2014-2016 class of the CFDA Incubator program. KARA derives from the Japanese word karaoke, meaning empty orchestra. --Sarah Law is an American Chinese designer and entrepreneur from Hong Kong. She studied fashion design at Parsons School of Design in New York and Paris. In 2016, Forbes magazine included KARA founder & designer Sarah Law in 30 Under 30 in Arts & Style.
